DailyLook Review

After a sudden onslaught of promotional "reviews" for DailyLook, I signed up for the emails to see what all the fuss was about.  For those of you who don't know, DailyLook is a website that emails daily outfits, such as the one featured above, and sells each element of the outfit at a discount price.  More often than not, there are two or more outfits available - jewelry, handbags, shoes, clothes, and belts are included.  You can buy the whole outfit or just individual pieces.

I watched weeks of outfits come and go without buying any, but when the above outfit popped into my email, I jumped.  It's definitely my style - glammed up a little without straying from casual; feminine but not floral or poofy; simple with bright spots of color.  I love the colors, the shoes, the bag... everything. So, I bit the bullet and grabbed my Visa.

I didn't order the whole outfit... those pants would never in a million years fit me properly, even if I ordered 2 sizes too large.  Designers seem to forget that taller girls also have longer torsos and thus need a longer rise than 6 inches.  Anyway, I said screw the jeans, belt, and necklace and ordered the lace blazer, top, bag, bracelet, and heels, and anxiously awaited their arrival.

Shipping
Shipping time was decent.  It took a few days, but they did communicate via email to let me know.  I can't remember the method of delivery, but my package arrived in a little over a week's time.  It was in one of those plastic bags, not a box.  The blazer and shirt were packaged individually in clear plastic bags, and so was the handbag.  The shoes were in a shoebox and the bracelet was in a small jewelry-sized box.  The items were undamaged, but it was clear they'd been jostled around a lot in shipping due to the outer packaging.  Not a big deal.

Quality
This is where it gets disappointing.  Although the items are sold at reduced prices, I was surprised at the quality.  The shoes were purchased in a size 8.5, which is my size in most shoes, although I can oftentimes fit comfortably in a size 8, and they were WAY too small.  I have relatively narrow to normal feet, but these shoes were just way too short, and they felt cheap.

The purse was also very disappointing.  Although it was a pretty color, it was essentially just plastic wrapped around cardboard, and the chain proceeded to snag the lace blazer and rip it to shreds.  I was so bummed since it seemed like such a pretty bag.  It also was not really a cross-body bag, but I imagine on a much shorter girl, it could work.  The chain also pulls your hair out.

The top, although nowhere close to the color shown in the picture, was pretty good quality.  It fits a little awkward in the chest though.  The color is a grayish ivory color, which isn't exactly what's shown in the picture on the model.  The lace jacket was also nowhere near the color shown on the site.  It's a antique ivory, cream color.  It's a far, far cry from white or just off-white like in the pictures.  The size works well (I ordered a large because of my shoulders, but probably could make a medium work better) but the snags from the purse and the color are disappointing.

The bracelet isn't anything special, a lot more dull in person than in pictures, but seems like a decent quality for the price.  I've worn it several times and it's held up well.

The bottom line
I promptly returned the shoes and purse, and I wish they'd asked why I was returning them so that I could alert them to the problems.  Reading through some people's comments around the site lead me to believe that a lot of the items sold on DailyLook are cheaply made, but some are gems.  I think the key is learning which brands to trust.  It took over a week to get my money back (minus $5.99 for shipping because I refused a store credit) and I don't think I will be shopping with DailyLook again due to the quality of the items and the return policy.  I like the ideas in many of the outfits, but if I want cheap fashion pieces, I will stick with Forever 21, which is actually better quality with lower prices.

Have you shopped with DailyLook?  What did you get, and how did it work out for you?

Xoxo,
Kelly

  1. Hi Kelly,

I love the concept, but their customer support is just horrible. They are rude, stop responding to a chat after opening and asking for an order id, don't care to listen to any feedback, and basically call you a liar when you are trying to leave feedback on the quality and sizing of their clothes. I have been a purchaser for about 6 months and have spent a nice chunk of change and have continued to give them the benefit of the doubt. After this last call to return a M/L size skirt that is sized to fit a 5 year old child (and have jokingly taken a picture of it as a leg skirt, since it fit on just one thigh), I am bidding them adieu. The rep said I was wrong and their sizing is 'true to size', refused to take my feedback and practically stopped talking to me. (And this was after they had already dropped talking to me on chat and I needed to call in.)

DailyLook -- great concept or not, treating your customers well is what will keep you around. I'll stick with Forever 21 for that type of quality in clothing. And I have also heard that CakeStyle.com has a similar concept with higher quality. (Not to mention they tailor the outfit specifically for you! How exciting is that. I just created an account...) Also, Kelly, I agree. The refund policy is def risky when the sizing is so far off from what they declare. I, too, will be taking the $5.99 hit to get my money back.

    1. Yeah, from what I experienced on my first transaction (and what you're going through), I can't say I recommend the site to anyone. I've unsubscribed from their emails and don't plan to return.

    2. Same thing happen to me ordered a pair of boots that looked super cute but when I received them the quality was just awful. I returned them right away. That was on March 10th its now March 22 and no refund yet after calling them they told me it can take up to 3 weeks to get refund MINUS of course the shipping which is crazy since its not my fault that their product wasn't up to par. DEF NOT BUYING FROM THEIR SITE EVER AGAIN!!!

  2. I ordered the whole outfit but they arrived separately. The quality is not as expected. I would rather just look at the style and buy the items at the local stores.

    1. I think that's probably a good idea. The site is great for inspiration, but the quality of clothing (and accessories) is just too poor for the price. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Oh no :( I saw these pair of booties on DailyLook and just couldn't resist how cute they are... but I wanted to see what other ppl say about the quality/sizing first. DailyLook seems to be getting a lot of positive response among the youtube community though... (it is it because they're sponsored? ha ha...) But I guess I'll pass. Thanks for the review :)

    1. I am trying to figure that out too. Beauty YouTubers are always raving about it, but I wonder if they're getting kickbacks for it, because the quality is NOT there. It's nice when other users put reviews up about the different products and warn when something isn't very good (or is really great).

You can always try them out and return them if you don't like them, but you end up paying a fee if you don't want a credit to get more cheap stuff. It's a risk!

  4. Thanks for letting me know. I ordered from another website without reading reviews. I will never do that again! I figured it would be cheep clothing. The Daily...what ever's website almost made my computer crash. Super slow.

    1. It's a shame too... their stuff is pretty cute, but my goodness is it cheap.

An update on the products I kept - the blazer is losing threading and starting to look pretty frayed (I've worn it 2-3 times total), the bracelet has a piece of plastic that scratches me so I don't wear it, and the tank top fits me really weird because of my chest so I don't really wear it.

      Forever 21 is better.

  5. I wish I had looked up customer service reviews before making my purchase. I made my first purchase November 4 and it is still pending (now Nov 20). I sent an email to inquire on the order and it just sent an automated email back stating to read their FAQ, which I had already done. I waited a few more days after that first inquiry and checked my account again to find that one of the things I had ordered had been removed from my purchase list. I emailed them again about that and they replied that the item was damaged when shipped from their vendors and they have no more in stock so it was removed. I feel that, like any other online retailer, they should have notified me maybe to see if I had wanted something else, or something, but they just completely removed it and left me in the dark. I didnt know about anything until I inquired about it. The best part is, they said they would still honor the free shipping if removing the item had brought the balance under $75.00. I live in Hawaii and they dont offer free shipping. I definitely think that they could improve on their customer service. I think daily look also favors the youtube gurus, they seem to follow only them on their instagram so I wouldnt be surprised if they had better customer service...lol.

    1. Yes, they obviously heavily marketed to the beauty community on YouTube. I'm AMAZED that so many of those girls are still raving about Daily Look, especially the ones who seem much more level-headed and less likely to sell out. I stopped their emails and won't be returning as a customer. I wish instead of marketing themselves through YT gals that promote anyone who pays them, they'd focus instead on better customer service and listening to those of us who actually SPENT MONEY instead of getting things gratis.

  6. their quality & customer service is so horrendous. their merchandise is priced really high and their styles are whacky. they keep bringing back old merchandise that didn’t sell like they’re new. they didn’t sell the first place cuz they’re ugly!!! after spending an arm & a leg, i learned my lessons. there are so many other great alternative websites i can shop from.

  7. not to mention almost everything i bought from them either got ripped or torn. their stuff is totally cheap and bad quality. you can find same or similar styles on other online websites for cheaper, better quality and much better customer service! from shipping charges to return policy, dailylook is just not in the league. don’t waste your money or time there. i warned you.

    1. That was the real kicker for me... such poor quality! I don't understand how all these girls on YouTube can rave about these clothes and accessories when they're REALLY poorly made. Forever 21's stuff is actually much better... and that's saying something. Thanks for stopping by!

  10. I bought some boots the other day on DailyLook. When I was opening up my package, I was surprised to know that the boots were from Soda. Now, I don't have a problem with Soda Shoes; I quite like them because they're affordable. However, I realized that I over-payed for these boots! I was upset because I realized they're sold at least $10-15 less than what I payed for elsewhere. And that's "with the daily discount". I know of a friend who bought them in San Diego for $20 when I payed $50!

I am disappointed in that they do not tell you the brand of the clothes they are selling to you. And I was expecting higher quality items for the prices they advertise. It's a shame.

  11. I've had a couple bad experiences with them...

    1) Their website had a glitch in the system in November 2012 which let me (and other people) use two coupons in one transaction making a whopping 70% off my purchase. So I was super excited because I was getting ankle boots and a purse for only $30! Well they decided to send me a gem of an email saying that they had a glitch and that the coupons could be used in one transaction but one was for 30% off of a sale item and one was 40% off a non-sale item and that they needed my "okay" to charge my card another $30 for THEIR mistake... so I called them about it and told them that this is THEIR fault for the glitch and I shouldn't have to pay extra. I told the rep that I work in customer service too and if we have the wrong price tag on an item that is lower than the real price (the SKUs have to match of course) then it's their lucky day to get that product at a discount for our mistake. She kept giving me the, "we're sorry it's our policy" bullish** and I kept arguing and her only compromise was a free shipping credit on my next purchase and that I could send the items back for free upon receiving them if I didn't like them. I ended up just getting the items because they were really cute and the shoes and purse were pretty nice (although I know I over paid because the shoes were by Soda). I reported them to the BBB and they still wouldn't budge.

    2) I ordered a dress which I got last month (03/2013) and I got a large. It is too tight in the waist and wont zip but is fine everywhere else and is really adorable when i have it on and zipped as far as it goes. It's Billy by Flying Tomato brand which is a wholesale company with some unique items. I paid around the retail price for the dress that's sold on amazon by another boutique and I debated sending it back but I think I'm going to keep it because well, it's too late now, it can probably be easily let out a little if I take it to a dress shop or I could stop being lazy and just exercise. I compared Flying Tomato's size chart to DailyLook's and it is not the same. DailyLook says a large is 9-12 and Flying Tomato's Large is 8-10.

    3) This is my most recent one...I actually got my order two days ago (04/02/2013) and I bought some sandals with fringe, a scarf and a neon pink purse with studs. The first two are great and I love them but I'm concerned with the purse...I looked inside the bag to see the brand name and was shocked to find none but I found 2 tags in it. The first tag says at the top in bold writing: MADE IN CHINA and has translations for care instructions in: english, spanish, french, chinese and japanese. I'm not trying to bash items made in china because basically everything is but it's the second tag that concerns me...it reads: "WARNING: This product may be contained (yes contained not 'contain') LEAD, a chemical known to The State of California (where DailyLook is based, mind you) to cause birth defects of (not 'or) other reproductive harm. Do not mouth or chew." Yeah...and now I'm looking up how high numbers of lead are in many bags these days (even high end designer ones!) and here's the real kicker, they have removed this item from their site. I highly doubt it's sold out (maybe it is?). I'm going to be sending it back and I think I'd like a refund. I'm also contacting the BBB AGAIN to let them know. A purse shouldn't contain a warning label! (except if it has small parts that could fall off and could cause choking). I think this is "good-bye" for DailyLook.

    1. With all these comments, it seems we're not alone! I think a lot of girls in the beauty community on YouTube are being dishonest in order to get compensation and freebies... HOW can they be raving about this place so much? The quality is 10 times worse than F21 and is more expensive!

  12. wow. thanks for this review! i keep hearing the raves from the beauty community on youtube and decided to check out the site. there were a few items that i liked but i wasn't fond of their return policy so i decided to poke around on the internet for some reviews and thank goodness i stumbled upon your review! i don't think i'll be buying anything.

    1. I wish I had heard an honest review before purchasing. I feel like the YouTube community is being really dishonest with this stuff. Some girls may have had disappointing experiences and aren't saying anything at all, while the girls who are willing to be dishonest for compensation and freebies continue to rave about the site and their products. I think some brands they sell are probably really good, but it's hard to tell the good from the bad. I'll never shop there again, that's for sure, and you're lucky you were smart and read some reviews!

  13. I just received my first order too and I was so disappointed. The colors were completely off, and the quality of the items were TERRIBLE given what I paid. I ordered 2 dresses and a top; the dresses were really cheaply made, completely off-color, and much bigger than I expected. And the top, somehow-- they managed to mess up too and gave me the wrong color. I'm keeping it b/c it actually kind of looks nice, but these kinds of mess-ups are just really unprofessional, and I felt completely misled by the website.

  14. :/ so glad I'm not alone, I ordered some boots from them but when they came I found that they were too small. Not only that the boots looked super cheap. I ended up searching the brand online and found I could buy them on Amazon for about 20 bucks. I decided to return them and wrote that I wanted it to go on my credit card. But weeks later I still got no money back. I emailed them and they said I had not instructed them what to do so they had given my store credit. When I checked the store credit I noticed that about 11 dollars was missing. I asked them what the deal was and they said that because I had used a coupon they were going to take back the amount that was discounted to me. I asked them where on the company website it said that they would do that, as I have never heard of any company doing this! When I got their response they said that I wasn't technically paying the amount since it was "Giving" to me... makes no sense to me. But I decided to just leave it as that. I know now to never buy from them again!!

  16. I got scammed from a website called Daily Look!!! EVERYONE BEWARE!! DO NOT JOIN OR PUT YOUR INFO ON DAILY LOOK WEBSITE!!!! I ordered items from them, I paid it and never received the item. then I called the customer support, they said, they are not responsible on anything and refused to issue a refund!! I was really pissed about it but not until I check my credit card bill where the Daily Look charged me for another items I didn't order. So I called my credit card company to decline it and thankfully it got declined.
Be careful!! they will scam you, they took your credit card info and try to take your money.
